We all have those days when the sweet cravings completely overpower us and we need to turn to something to help satisfy that nagging beast. My first week of banting was especially tough because we had really hot summer days, I had my period, the kids had just started their summer holiday and there was a delicious bar one chocolate cake starring me right in the face.

I must admit, I cheated more than once but I am coming back stronger this week with a strategy to kill those cravings with a much healthier alternative. Now while fruit is not the food of choice for someone following the banting LCHF lifestyle, I believe that this is a much better alternative than turning to a piece of chocolate, a slice of cake or an ice-cream for example.

This banting fruit smoothie will satisfy your sweet craving and is also very refreshing to cool down during the summer. I mentioned in my first week banting experience that I also felt dizzy which is apparently normal as your body detoxes during that first week and this helped right along with that.

 

 

To make this delicious smoothie, you will need the following ingredients:

  • ½ cup of plain double cream yoghurt
  • ½ cup of water
  • 4-5 chopped strawberries
  • ½ banana
  • ½ an apple

Method:

  1. Place all of the ingredients in a blender until smooth and enjoy chilled.
  1. If you are vegan, the yoghurt can be replaced with some coconut milk.
